Hello, I’m Samantha - a fully qualified, state registered Art Psychotherapist. I hold an MA Art Therapy, with distinction from the University of Hertfordshire (2011). I have a background in Fine Art (BA hons) and a PGCE Art and Design. I have worked in supporting roles with children, young people and adults for over 20 years. I used to teach Art and Design, then worked as a substance misuse education worker for a charity, supporting young people and their families affected by drugs and alcohol. I have also been involved in community art projects over the years, including painting large wall murals in schools and for charities.
I have been working as a lead Art Therapist within schools for the past 14 years and privately in my own practice for over 7 years, providing both one to one and group art therapy for children, young people and adults with varying mental health, emotional, social and wellbeing needs.
I believe that every individual is unique and provide an art therapy service which reflects this, working from a person centred, psychodynamic approach.
I am passionate about Art Therapy and fully believe in the transformative effect it can have. I have experience working with a range of mental health and emotional well-being needs. I offer an initial consultation free of charge, where we can have a chat about your requirements and I can answer any questions you may have. You don't need to have any previous experience or skill in art making - art therapy focuses on reflecting together about the process and experience of creating/making art, helping to express and understand feelings that could otherwise be difficult to verbalise. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss whether Art Therapy could be right for you or your child.
Samantha is registered with the HCPC and the BAAT and adheres to their professional codes of conduct.
